The Challenge
With energy prices remaining high and no signs of relief, we were proud to support Southwell City, a non-profit organisation, in reducing their energy costs and improving overall efficiency. By installing our energy monitoring system over a three-month period, we captured a clear and accurate picture of how energy was being used across the club’s facilities. The results highlighted inefficiencies in the existing setup, revealing opportunities to significantly lower consumption. This allowed is to tailor a solution to reduce their costs and allow the club to redirect valuable funds into enhancing their facilities where it truly matters.
The Solution
To address the issues uncovered, we replaced the existing Hive thermostat with a Loxone smart control system, offering far greater flexibility and precision in managing heating demands. We also integrated with the Nibe air source heat pump controller, allowing us to optimise how heat is distributed between heating and hot water storage. Additional energy savings were achieved by intelligently switching off high-consumption appliances when not in use, all made possible through Loxone’s powerful, customisable platform.
These upgrades have delivered impressive results: energy usage has been cut in half, with projected annual savings of £2,800. The investment has paid for itself in just seven months. From this point forward, the system is generating ongoing savings that can be reinvested into improving the club’s facilities for both their youth and senior teams.
